Nassau County Police responded to an Inwood residence for a 2-month-old girl who was choking at around 10:40 a.m. Friday, March 7.
The infant was taken to a nearby hospital before being transferred to another medical center, where she later died, according to Nassau County Police.
An investigation found that the girl had been the victim of an assault which caused her death.
On Wednesday, March 12, homicide detectives arrested 20-year-old Marlon Rabanales-Pretzantzin, on suspicion of second-degree murder. He was expected to be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Thursday, March 13.
Authorities did not immediately clarify the relationship between Rabanales-Pretzantzin and the girl, identified as Liseyda Rabanales–Barrios, nor did they speculate on what led up to the alleged attack.
